About Acupuncture
For over 3,000 years Acupuncture has been used to treat illness and prevent disease. Acupuncture theory is based on the meridian system, a vast network of pathways in the body through which Qi (energy) flows. The meridians traverse the body and are specifically related to different internal organs and physiological systems. Illness occurs when these meridians become obstructed, deficient, excessive, or out of harmony with each other. The use of very small, sterile needles on precise points connected to the affected meridians restores the smooth flow of Qi and brings the body back into a state of health.
Research by the National Institute of Health (NIH) and the United Nations World Health Organization (WHO), shows that the following conditions are effectively treated with acupuncture.
Musculoskeletal Conditions: back pain, neck pain, sprains/strains, sciatica, arthritis, disc problems, sports injuries, facial pain (TMJ)
Digestive Disorders: heartburn, acid reflux, nausea, constipation, diarrhea, bloating, gas, indigestion
Neurological: headaches, migraines, vertigo, MS, Parkinson's, Bells Palsy, chronic pain, fibromyalgia, neuralgia
Psychological/Behavioral: anxiety, depression, nervousness, panic attacks, PTSD, mood swings, stress, cravings/addictions
Women’s Health: fertility, irregular menses, PMS, menopause, uterine fibroids, ovarian cysts, libido
Other: asthma, immunity, weight loss, addictions, smoking cessation, blood pressure, thyroid issues, allergies, sinusitis, common cold, bronchitis, hypertension, tinnitus
Many people experience additional benefits from acupuncture unrelated to their primary complaint, such as improvements in sleep, digestion, mood, and an increase in energy and wellbeing. These are all positive indications that the body is achieving harmony and balance.
